AUTRALIAN DEFENCE FORCE ON ALERT

Defence personnel were operating under "increased readiness" in Darwin earlier this month after Russian bombers flew out of an Indonesian military base and close to Australia, it has been revealed. The ABC has reported that the RAAF Base Darwin was placed on a "brief period" of alert while more than 100 Russian personnel and several aircraft were stationed at the Biak Airbase in Indonesia's eastern Papua province.
